Rider Profiles

Check out the rider profiles below for more information about what is required, along with some hints and tips for us.

Beginners

If you don’t currently own a bike or you haven’t been on one for a number of years, this is you.

Should I sign up?

Of course! We’ve had absolute beginners with very little fitness sign up for the Babble Ride Across Britain. BUT if you do fall into this category, you need to personally commit to the challenge and train hard! We believe with the right plan in place, anything is possible.

Need more convincing?

Every year there are riders who sign up without owning a bike. Just to highlight though, the amount of ‘saddle time’ you put in will directly effect how much you enjoy the experience. We appreciate that time may not be a luxury for those looking after children and juggling busy careers but we can help you structure your preparation with a training plan. In order to complete the route, you will need to be averaging a speed of 10mph every day. We can help build you up to this level, including some longer rides to help your legs get used to the distance!

Not sure you’ve got the leg? You can always split the route and take it on over two years.

Riders with disabilities

If you have the grit and determination, we’ll bring the support and structure to get you from the start to the finish line.

Should I sign up?

We welcome riders with any type of disability. We have a decade of in-depth experience supporting disabled people as they ride over 100 miles a day. We’ve had the privilege of hosting amputee riders on specially adapted bikes, a rider who was paralysed below the sternum and completed the entire distance on a handbike, blind riders who rode the distance on a tandem and someone with severe knee injuries who made it to the finish line on an elliptical bike.

Need more convincing?

We have met people who have either been born with disabilities or been involved in accidents which have drastically changed their lives. Like all riders on the Babble Ride Across Britain they share something in common; an unbreakable spirit and drive.

If you want to ride, but have some special requirements, then please don’t hesitate to contact us. We are here to help you achieve something truly special.

Older riders

We firmly believe that age should never be barrier and encourage riders of all ages to join us on this incredible cycling challenge from Land’s End to John O’Groats.

Should I sign up?

As Gabriel Garcia Marquez once said “It is not true that people stop pursuing dreams because they grow old, they grow old because they stop pursuing dreams.” Our most senior rider to date was a 78 year old who not only made it to the finish line but became an inspiration to all the riders and crew alike. Age is just a number, but if numbers are you thing, we have a completion rate well over 90%. This is testament to the support and care all our participants receive on this epic journey.

Need more convincing?

We have the support in place to provide you with tailored advice on how to prepare for this unique challenge. Your safety is our highest priority and we will take every measure to ensure that you are looked after at all times. We have a variety of ride chaperones to lead groups and set an energy efficient pace. Plus the route is clearly sign posted so you don’t have to worry about making a wrong turn! We also have medical and mechanical crews on hand throughout the event and to ensure your safety at all times.

Choose the right package

If you want to take part but feel the full distance is a little far, there is also the option to select just one of the routes – England or Scotland.

International riders

There is no better way to see the best landscape and scenery Britain has to offer than on the Babble Ride Across Britain.

Should I sign up?

We welcome all international guests. If you’re looking for a cycling tour loaded with adventure and epic memories, you’ve come to right place. This is a fully supported and (almost) all-inclusive cycling holiday. As you explore and unlock your own personal limits you will forge new friendships and create special memories that will last a lifetime.

Need more convincing?

As you progress along the route from England into Wales and then onto Scotland you’ll get to unlock a treasure chest of hidden gems. You’ll experience the rugged coastline of Cornwall, the steep valleys of the Peak District and finish in the majestic Scottish highlands. Throw into the mix our barren moorlands, secret back lanes and breath-taking coastal roads, you’ve got a winning combination.

If you have any specific enquiries about joining from abroad please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
